The political situation remains calm and peaceful. Efforts are mounting to respond to the crisis of the displacements of population caused by the fighting between the Senegalese soldiers and the MFDC separatists of Casamance. Gambia Food and Nutrition Association (GAFNA) over the weekend (2 April 2022) launched the distribution of Two Hundred and Fifty (250) mattresses (200 big sizes and 50 small sizes) to IDPs and asylum seekers in the communities of Burambang and Buleghat.  The ceremony was graced by senior staff of the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) through its the deputy Executive Director, and Finance Director and partner staff of both GAFNA and GCR. Part of this intervention include the provision of eleven (11) temporary shelters to the IDPs that will be delivered during the cause of this week..   The head of the two host villages and beneficiaries expressed delight and described the gesture timely as it will contribute to solving congestion, overcrowding and sleeping on the floor.
